massive automatic federal budget cuts. they are set to take effect in just three months now. one thing set to go, bush era tax cuts. a new study says you could pay a hefty price if congress doesn't renew them. according to the tax policy center, a typical middle income family would see its taxes go up about $2,000. a family making between $110,000 and $140,000 zoo see a like in the $6 how range. congress may not let that happen. the "new york times" reports that senate leaders are working on a three-step plan to avoid the automatic cuts that lawmaker would hammer out in the post-election session. elec and here is more you will have to pay for. lunch just got a little more expensive at d.c.'s food trucks. the owners had always paid a flat $1500 tax. now, the city is implementing the sales tax act and food trucks are no longer immune. they have to charge 10% on every sale. the tax went into effect

and what they've done here is they've done satellite imaging. see the darker spots, that is the cooler areas of the city. that is staten island there on your bottom left and manhattan. you can kind of see central park. >> okay. >> if we show the next map, it corresponds directly to where there is the thickest vegetation or where the coolest temperatures are. where you have concrete and asphalt, we are not going to show the second map but there is a second map. you will find the cooler temperatures. >> where you don't have the concrete and asphalt. >> yeah. >> at nighttime, we talk about the heat rising back into the air. it is harder for that to occur, sometimes impossible for that to occur, when you have these asphalt concrete surfaces and the like. when you have vegetation and natural ground, it radiates

quite easily back up into the atmosphere. >> there is a left discussion about whether this contributes to global warming. most experts think it probably doesn't. it is small in scale. something else that is fascinating, the downwind, areas that are east of big urban areas have a tendency to have more rain. it is because all the heat, the air rises. as the air rises, it condenses as it cools so there is more energy in the atmosphere for heavier rain. >> this side of 81, east of 95, it is done primarily to give you a locator. however, you will find that, in the wintertime, when weather

good morning, everybody. i'm holly morrison on this tuesday. we're here to get your kids to eat well. because studies show that if kids are healthy eaters they will physically develop better and be smarter and that's why october has been declared national farm to school month. it is all about getting school to develop partnerships with their local farmers so that they can get their kids to eat better and we are lucky because in all of the nations, one of the schools that does it better, we're live here at a dc public bilingual charter school. this morning, i know it seems quie right now but in a matter of minutes this will be bustling with kids and kids eating breakfast. we will see what is on the menu and where it came from and if the kids like it. they have their own garden and classroom curriculum that is about eating healthy and living healthy. so i would like to say we were
